This video showcases the delicate and unique art of the Japanese Tebori. The tattoo artist applies the ink to the skin in a similar fashion to modern day tattooist but instead of using a tattoo machine, the ink is applied by manually pushing the needles by hand.
The rhythmic sound you hear “shakki-shakki” is the sound of the tattooing needles leaving the skin. Just being able to watch the tebori tattooing process is amazing.
